Aim:-To control the sale / purchase of Narcotics Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Precursor Chemicals by the pharmaceutical companies / traders as list defined by the government of Pakistan under the Ministry of narcotics control, Islamabad.
Introduction:-The Pharmaceutical Section has been established in the RD ANF Punjab in order to ensure proper control on Narcotics Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Precursor Chemicals included in the restricted list. For this purpose a post Pharmacist BPS-18 has been got created.
At present (2005) in Punjab there are 208 Allopathic. Pharmaceutical units Narcotics and psychotropic drugs are being manufactured by allopathic pharmaceutical units. Other than these many Unani and Herbal manufacturing units, manufacture syrups and other medicines using opium as their base under DD5 license given by the excise department.
With the presence of a Pharmacist /Drug Inspector in the Directorate, it has become possible to keep an eye on all procedures starting from import till the product reaches in the hands of end user regarding Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic substances and to conduct joint surveys in respect of chemical / Precursors of pharmaceutical firms and others along with CBR & Ministry of Health officials.
